A man launched an attack on the elderly gentleman as they walked past one another on a street in Keighley, as West Yorkshire Police scour local CCTV to nail the thug
An elderly man was attacked by a psassing thug who then ended up on the receiving end as passers-by stepped in to give the yob a taste of karma.
Police say they are investigating the reported attack in Keighley, West Yorkshire, on Tuesday after footage emerged of the pensioner being kicked and pushed. CCTV which caught the moment, timestamped to Tuesday morning, shows the backpack-strapped man brush past the older couple on a street in the town, prompting the couple to turn their heads towards him.
He then calmly walks back to the older man, kicking and pushing him against a wall before both fall to the ground. It’s not known what was said between the two parties involved, but police said they were scanning other CCTV from the area at the time.
As the older gentleman lies helpless on the ground, another man comes rushing onto the scene pulling away the attacker before delivering a blow to ward him off. Three people, one of whom is pushing a baby in a pushchair, then come onto the scene, checking the man is okay.
The attacker, still on the ground, then gets up, grabbing his loose shoe and bludgeoning one of the Samaritans to the head. One of the young man in the party then strips off his jacket, squaring up the assailant in a punch-up.
The clip was shared on X with the caption “karma”, and has since been 1.2million times, racking up 13,000 likes. The Mirror undesrtands the elderly man was not seriously injured in the attack and luckily did not need to go to hospital.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are investigating reports of an assault on Chapel Lane, Keighley on 30 April at around 10.20-10.40am. Positive lines of enquiries are ongoing including CCTV work.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 quoting crime reference 13240230068.”
