Fans of Tom Ford’s £108 Cafe Rose perfume will be racing to snap up this Miller Harris unisex fragrance that has all the same notes but is more than 50% cheaper
With Valentine’s Day on its way, thoughts are turning to what exactly to buy your other half for the big day. If you’re stuck for ideas, a fragrance is always a good choice, especially when you manage to find one that smells just as good as an expensive luxury version, at a fraction of the price.
For fans of Tom Ford’s Cafe Rose fragrance, you’ll be all too familiar with its hefty price tag, which costs £108 for a 50ml bottle. However, if you (or your partner) are after something similar that’s a little easier on your budget, the Miller Harris Rose En Noir fragrance is perfect.

Jo Malone has launched a new rose-scented perfume that’s ideal for Valentine’s gifting
Featuring many of the same notes and scent profiles, the Miller Harris Rose En Noir is the perfect affordable alternative, and it’s currently on sale with 50% off, slashing its price from £100 to £50. That not only means you’ll save on the fragrance itself, but it’ll also save you £58 compared to purchasing the Tom Ford Cafe Rose.
The main scent in both fragrances is Turkish rose, and they each have a warm, spicy and woody scent that can be worn by any gender. Here are the main notes in both perfumes:
Miller Harris Rose En Noir
Top notes: Coriander, cumin, lemon leaf
Heart notes: Turkish rose, violet leaf, black pepper
Base notes: Tobacco, ambrette, patchouli
Tom Ford Cafe Rose
Top notes: Turkish rose, black pepper, sweet coffee, ylang ylang
Heart notes: Coriander, patchouli, cardamom
Base notes: Sandalwood, frankincense
As you can see, both fragrances feature main scents like Turkish rose, black pepper, coriander and patchouli, giving them a very similar scent combination. It’s worth noting that they do emerge in a different order, which can give a slightly different lasting scent.
However, both scents are the perfect combination of floral, spicy and woody, making them smell rich and sensual – the perfect Valentine’s Day perfume. The Miller Harris fragrance has gotten rave reviews from shoppers, with one saying: “I prefer this perfume to the new Rose silence. it has a more woody smell and I get lots of comments whenever I wear it.”
Another added: “Beautiful scent. Fabulous for day and night. Soft and spicy rich and heady but also has a freshness.”
Whilst a third agreed: “Beautiful perfume, the depth of the fragrance lasts for a long time, and warms to my mood.”
However some were less impressed, with one writing: “I thought the perfume a little over powering for my taste. I would have requested a sample but as it was in the sale I didn’t think I would have time with royal mail over the holidays. This was my first purchase but I think I would choose something a little lighter.”
Other brands have also been releasing rose-scented perfumes in time for Valentine’s Day, with Jo Malone’s new limited edition Taif Rose hitting the shelves earlier this month. Priced at £112 for 50ml, it combines tobacco and rose for a deep, rich scent with hints of florals.
For something slightly more affordable, Who is Elijah’s Rebel Rose will set you back £56 for a 50ml bottle, and is selling quickly. It also has similar notes to both the Tom Ford and Miller Harris fragrances, with rose, black pepper, cumin, violet and patchouli amongst its scents.
