Tesco shoppers may not be aware of a certain rule ahead of Christmas
Tesco has slashed the price of festive favourite Baileys ahead of the big day, but there is a rule in place shoppers may not be aware of. The UK supermarket announced last month that it was lowering the price of its 1L bottles of the popular Irish cream liqueur to £10, for anyone with a Tesco Clubcard.
The offer is available until Monday, December 8, with the original price at around £22. However Tesco appears to be rationing its supply somewhat, and shoppers should be aware that there is a limit to how many bottles they can purchase.
As per Tesco’s website, customers can only purchase a maximum of three 1L bottles of Baileys. This is not uncommon, as the supermarket giant often implements a “maximum purchase quantity” on popular items.
On its website, Tesco explains: “To ensure availability of all our products customers may be limited to a maximum number of items.” For example, Tesco currently has a 36 bottle limit on its Tesco Finest Prosecco Doc 75Cl, while shoppers wanting to purchase the Tesco Frozen Medium Basted Whole Turkey Bird 3.9Kg – 5.2kg can buy no more than three per person.
The maximum quantity varies depending on the product, though many everyday items are currently capped at 16 per shop. Tesco isn’t the only retailer selling 1L bottles of Baileys for £10, as Sainsbury’s shoppers with a Nectar card can also bag the festive favourite for this price, until Saturday, December 6.
Asda is also selling 1L bottles for £10 each until Monday, December 8, and Costco cardholders can get theirs for £9.99 until the same day, or while stocks last. It’s important to note Tesco stores in Scotland are selling the bottles for £11.50 until the offer ends.
