The in-store cafés, found at hundreds of Tesco stores, are now offering matcha lattes and fancy fried chicken crumpets
Forget the overpriced brunch spot – Tesco has just released a brand new menu that shoppers are calling “unreal.”
Whether you’re looking to fuel up before you do the big shop, or seeking a cut-price victory after surviving a scramble at the tills, the supermarket giant is shaking things up with a new menu.
From Turkish-style eggs, to smoked salmon bagel plates and even a rhubarb crumble shake, the limited-edition menu is designed to bring a “vibrant” glow to these grey and dreary months.
Moving far beyond their usual offerings of a slice of cake and a jacket potato, other new items include matcha lattes, fried chicken crumpets, a honeycomb latte, and even a blood orange spritz.
The shake up proves Tesco is keeping up to date with modern food trends, and these posh plates will be offered alongside popular current items such as smashed avocado on toasted sourdough and egg and chilli jam brioche rolls.

Usually, these dishes are seen at more ‘boujee’ independent spots with a hefty cost attached, but Tesco’s prices are also pretty reasonable too. Ranging from £3.95 for a breakfast bap to £9.50 for hand-battered fish and chips, while the Turkish-style eggs, loaded with lemon yoghurt, fried eggs, harissa oil, coriander and crispy onions on toasted sourdough is just £6.95, as is the fried chicken and crumpets.
A Tesco spokesperson told Metro the new menu is “full of vibrant options to brighten up the winter months”. They added this is an addition to the café’s existing “fantastic offering of Tesco Finest coffee, all-day breakfasts, cheese-topped toasties, lunchtime classics and a selection of bakery items”.
The news was announced on Instagram and will be available at Tesco’s 329 café locations around the UK until March 23. Another post was shared that highlighted limited edition rhubarb and custard iced matcha that fans called ‘delicious’ and ‘unreal’.
It’s not just the food getting a makeover, with touch-screen self-service ordering being rolled out at select locations to cut down on queues. And the cafés themselves are being updated, with softer seating and a new colour scheme to make your post supermarket sweep recovery even more comfortable.
It comes after Tesco unveiled a significant update for customers who rely on home delivery or Click+Collect services. The retail behemoth shared the news as it prepares for the Easter rush, with the holiday falling on the weekend of 4-5 April this year.
Tesco is opening up access to its home delivery and Click+Collect slots a week earlier than in previous years, while also adding an extra 120,000 slots to cater to increased demand. For the first time ever, Tesco will offer six weeks’ worth of slots covering the entire Easter school holiday period.
The additional slots will be available for booking from 24 February onwards, running until ‘mid-April’. Jillian Lidgate, Tesco’s online customer director, said: “With 120,000 extra home delivery and Click + Collect slots available this Easter, we’re making it easier for customers to plan their celebrations with great-quality products delivered direct to their door or Click+Collect location of their choice.
