The mum of a little girl who was found dead in a golf course pond in Doncaster has paid tribute to her
The “sweet little girl” who was found dead in a golf course pond has been named in heartbreaking tributes.
Nyla May Bradshaw, seven, was found in waters at Owston Hall golf course in Doncaster on Monday morning following a huge search and rescue operation. In a tribute shared online, mum Hayley Beardsley wrote: “It breaks my heart to write this, but today we lost our beautiful daughter Nyla May Bradshaw at just seven years old.
“She was our whole world full of love, laughter, and the brightest smile that could light up any room. She brought so much joy into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her. Our sweet little girl will be loved forever and never, ever forgotten.
“Forever 7 my girl, this isn’t goodbye – it’s an until we meet again. You have family up there who will look after you. You were too special for this earth. Run as free as you want now, my gorgeous girl.”
Family friend Charlotte said: “She was my best friend’s daughter – our beloved little girl. She was beautiful.”
A GoFundMe fundraiser set up in Nyla’s memory described her as a “deeply loved little girl”, who was autistic and non-verbal. It said that Nyla drowned “while she was not in the care of her parents”. “Her family are now facing the unimaginable pain of losing their beautiful daughter, alongside many unanswered questions and the overwhelming responsibility of arranging her funeral,” the fundraiser said.
Emergency services were called to Owston Hall golf course on Monday morning following a report that a child had gone missing from the Skellow area.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Yesterday, Monday 30 March, officers responded to the death of a child in Doncaster. At 9.50am, a report was made that a child had gone missing in the Skellow area of the city. Officers and additional resources including police drones and the police aircraft were deployed.
“Following an extensive search, the child was located in a pond on Owston Hall golf course. Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services colleagues, they were pronounced deceased. The child’s family has been informed and is being supported by our officers. The thoughts of everybody at SYP are with them at this devastating time.”
