Serial killer Steve Wright’s brother has questioned ‘how many more victims’ the Suffolk Strangler could have after he pleaded guilty to the murder of a 17-year-old girl
The brother of the ‘Suffolk Strangler’ has questioned whether his sibling could have more victims.
Serial killer Steve Wright, 67, was convicted on Monday of killing teenager Victoria Hall from Trimley St Mary, Suffolk over 25 years ago.
He pleaded guilty to one count of murder and one count of kidnap in connection to the 17-year-old and another charge of attempted kidnap over an incident the night before Victoria’s abduction involving a woman who was aged 22 at the time.
Wright was sentenced to a whole life term in 2008 after being found guilty of the murders of five women in the Ipswich area between October and December 2006.
The women were Tania Nicol, 19, Gemma Adams, 25, Anneli Alderton, 24, Paula Clennell, 24, and Annette Nicholls, 29.
Now, Steve Wright’s younger brother, Keith, has said he fears there could be more victims. The 57-year-old told The Sun: “It’s time he did the right thing and told the police everything. There’s still so much we don’t know, so many unanswered questions.
“How many more victims are there? Only he knows the answers and it’s time he came forward. It’s time we got the truth.”
In court, it was heard how 17-year-old Victoria Hall was last seen alive in the early hours of Sunday 19 September 1999, in the quiet village of Trimley St Mary.
She had left home on the evening of Saturday 18 September 1999 to go for a night out with a friend at the Bandbox nightclub in Bent Hill, Felixstowe, where they remained until around 1am on the morning of Sunday 19 September.
After leaving the nightclub, the pair walked back to the village before separating at around 2.20am, with Victoria was just yards away from home.
Her parents raised the alarm the next morning when they discovered she had not returned home – and five days later, the teen’s naked body was found in a ditch beside a field by a dog walker.
In September 2019, Suffolk Police revealed that the case was being “fully reinvestigated” by a new team of detectives, with Wright arrested as part of the inquiry in July 2021.
He was rearrested in December 2023 and charged in May 2024, with Wright appearing emotionless as he admitted the murder on Monday. Mrs Hall died last December, before her daughter’s killer could be brought to justice.
Wright will be sentenced at the Central Criminal Court on Friday.
