Friends fans love MAC’s Paramount lipstick, which Jennifer Aniston once dubbed her ‘go-to’ shade, now beauty gurus have worked out how to get a similar look for less
It might have been years, but Rachel Green’s beauty looks are still iconic. Just ask any Friends fan. Back in 2017, Jennifer Aniston delighted TV lovers when she revealed one of her favourite lipstick shades from her days on set for the sitcom.
Speaking about MAC Cosmetic’s Paramount lipstick, she told Glamour: “I remember that was my go-to colour when I was doing Friends.” Predictably, beauty lovers were quick to snap up the shade in an effort to recreate Aniston’s look, and the demand hasn’t let up.
Content creator Gillian Grace recently went viral on TikTok after seeking out the MAC shade for her own test. On her account @gillianxgrace, she can be seen sporting the shade in a video that’s since been viewed over a million times. “This is like a true 90s lipstick,” says Gillian in the clip.
“I think I’m in love. I thought this was going to be too bold for me for everyday wear. I don’t even have lower lash mascara on and I feel like this looks so good. It is like the prettiest red-brown. This is one of the MAC Sleek Satin Lipsticks. It’s insanely pigmented, so you really only need a little bit.”
However, there was another recommendation shared in the comments that also caught the attention of fans. Replying to Gillian’s video, a fan shared: “It looks like rum raisin from Revlon if anyone is a budget baddie,” and the comment quickly gained support.
Several fans chimed in to express their agreement and compliment the shade, with one saying, “I live by my rum raisin.” A second said, “I have them both! I feel like Rum Raisin is a little more wearable for everyday.” Sharing another similar shade, someone added: “Or Lippy by Maybelline.”
Gillian Grace went on to test Revlon’s shade in a follow-up video, and she shared high praise. Addressing fans keen to recreate Rachel Green’s look for less, she said, “Rum raisin will definitely give you that same look.” Gillian added that she could see Monica Geller from Friends or Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls wearing the shade. Replying to the video, a fan praised: “This was my favourite colour of all time!!” Another echoed: “THEEEEEE color to me truly my holy grail.”
For beauty lovers keen to try the shades themselves, MAC’s Sleek Satin Lipstick in Paramount is available from MAC for £25. Meanwhile, Revlon’s website directs shoppers looking for its Super Lustrous Lipstick in Rum Raisin to Boot’s website, where the lipstick is listed as £8.99, but the shade does not appear to be available online at the moment. There is a version available from Amazon for under £5. Alternatively, Superdrug offers Maybelline Superstay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lippy for £11.99.
