Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters remain at the scene of the fire at Stratford train station.
As of 8.45pm, multiple seats of fire involving trees, shrubbery and grass near the railway tracks were still alight.
People have been told to avoid the area while fire crews work to tackle the blaze.
Station Commander Scott Thorpe, who is at the scene, said:“This fire is predominantly located within an area of grass and shrubbery that is surrounded on all sides by railway tracks.
“Crews are also working to extinguish other pockets of fire in around the station’s sidings.
“The power to the railway tracks has been isolated and the Brigade is working closely with its partners in order to resolve this incident safely.
“Firefighters are making steady progress; however we expect crews to remain on scene for much of the evening.”
Stratford station, which has been evacuated, remains closed and all passengers were evacuated.
London Fire Brigade said firefighters are currently assisting British Transport Police to safely get passengers off a number of trains that had to stop near the station.
As a result of the fire, Transport for London (TfL) services are also disrupted.
Around 40 calls were made to LFB about the fire, with the first coming in just before 7pm.
Crews from Plaistow, Poplar, Ilford, Bethnal Green and surrounding fire stations have been sent to the scene.
