Stacey Solomon shared a glimpse at her family trip to Port Lympne Safari Park, and we found a great deal that lets a family of four have an overnight stay for just £50 each
With the Easter holidays approaching we’ve been on the lookout for fun activities that will keep the whole family happy, and what could be better than a trip to a safari park? They’re always a hit with all ages, as Stacey Solomon found out when she recently took her family to Port Lympne Park for her niece’s birthday and shared a snap of herself with a giraffe.
But a big family trip doesn’t have to break the bank, as we’ve found a brilliant deal that lets a family of four not only visit the safari park, but stay overnight too for just £50. At Virgin Experience Days the Port Lympne Safari One Night Glamping Stay for up to Four People is £215, which means for four people it works out at just £53.75 each.

It doesn’t specify what the child/adult split has to be either – you can take three kids as the only adult, or all four of you can be adults for a friend or family weekend away. The offer includes one overnight stay in the glamping pods which sleep up to four, and are equipped with heating, two single beds and a double futon.
The next day, the Virgin Experience Days deal gets you access to the safari park, which has more than 900 animals, as well as seats on the truck safari which takes you through the African and Asian experiences. You’ll also get access to Howletts Wild Animal Park, which is subject to seasonal opening times.
Virgin Experience Days also has plenty of other offers on trips to Port Lympne Safari Park including truck safari and Sunday lunch combinations, and gorilla encounters. Other activity sites have also launched offers ahead of the Easter holidays, including other safari parks around the UK.
At Red Letter Days, you can get Entry to Chessington World of Adventures and VIP Giraffe Safari for One for £93. This includes entry to the theme park, a guided VIP off-road safari tour, and an up-close experience with Rothschild giraffes where you even get to feed them.
Alternatively, you could embark on the One Hour Rhino and Giraffe Up Close Encounter with Admission to Woburn Safari Park which is £329.99 for two. You’ll get to be up close with the giraffes and rhinos at the safari park for 60 minutes, and includes free admission to the rest of the park on the same day, with a dedicated tour guide to ask any questions to.
However, it seems the Port Lympne Safari One Night Glamping Stay for up to Four People is a big hit with previous visitors, who’ve given it a 4.8 star rating on Virgin Experience Days.
One said it was a “Great family break” and added: “We stayed in pinewood as a family of 4 and had an amazing time despite the constant rain. The glamping pod was super cosy and warm. We went on the safari truck, had dinner at bear lodge and toasted marshmallows over the camp fire, while the lions roared across from us.”
Another wrote: “We stayed overnight in a glamping pod at Port Lympne. The pod was very comfortable. The choice of restaurants was good. The most special thing was the ability to see the animals whilst the park was closed to day visitors, which made the whole experience incredibly special.”
One did mention some issues, particularly with the location. They said: “Good bits: good value for money for 4 people having access to 2 site both Howletts and Port Lympne. Not so good bits: a buggy to get around is not something you can hire even if you are staying only available with certain lodgings. Can’t hire separately which seems like they are missing a trick, having to wait for a shuttle vehicle cuts into your stay waiting up to 30 minutes each time Not wheelchair friendly. No support to help get luggage from car park which is a distance.”
But others felt the setting more than made up for it, saying: “Excellent experience. Staff at the park were extremely polite and helpful. Totally worth the money. Staying over and being able to roam and see the animals in the evening and early in the morning when the park was closed was incredible. Watching the lions patrol and hearing their majestic roar in the evening was wonderful.”
