The world has gone green as famous landmarks across the globe are lighting up in a dazzling emerald glow today as millions gear up to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

From New York’s towering skyline to Europe’s ancient wonders, world-famous monuments are being bathed in green, creating a feel-good global party that puts Ireland centre stage.

Among this year’s glowing landmarks are Niagara Falls, Canada’s CN Tower, Scotland’s National Wallace Monument and Germany’s fairytale-like Heidecksburg Castle – all joining the worldwide tribute.

The campaign by Tourism Ireland has turned some of the planet’s most iconic sights into shining symbols of Irish pride.
