Smart shoppers have spotted a way to get the £10 bars for less than the price of Lidl’s dupes of the viral foodie staple
Easter may be incoming but move over chocolate eggs, the hottest trend in confectionery this spring is Dubai-style chocolate. UK retailers have put strict two-bar limits on shoppers buying the pistachio and crispy kadayif-filled treats after the bars notched up hundreds of thousands of posts on TikTok made by fans keen to try them.
Lindt released their own £10 version of the bars earlier in the year and they instantly sold out in the chocolate giant’s stores and online. The iconic bars have come back in stock this week with a strict two bars per person limit , but we’ve spotted a way for savvy shoppers to get two bars for less than a fiver – making them even cheaper than the dupes Lidl shoppers have been queuing for hours to snag.
Money saving site TopCashback allows shoppers to get a free £15 bonus when they sign up as new members and then allows them to get a percentage of their spend back every time they spend money online with thousands of different retailers. For shoppers at Lindt’s online store this means if they bought two of the 145g bars for £10 each they would effectively get the chocolate for £4.83 after cashback, a hefty saving on the £7.98 two smaller 122g bars cost at Lidl for Plus Card customers lucky enough to track them down.

The hype around Dubai chocolate has sparked huge queues and sell outs in supermarkets in recent months. There’s even been a boom in so-called ‘taste tourism’ with foodies sparking a 38% increase in holiday bookings to Dubai this week compared to the same time in 2024 according to travel firm Destination2, with the operator reducing prices by up to 55% on breaks at the Grand Hyatt Dubai to tempt would-be food influencers to book.
Chocoholics on social media praise the mix of pistachio with crunchy knafeh – or finely shredded filo pastry – which pairs with the chocolate to make the ultimate crunchy yet creamy taste.
Waitrose, Ocado and Sainsburys have all had limited stock of Lindt’s version of the Dubai chocolate over the last few weeks, with shoppers flocking to Facebook groups to try and help track down branches that had them in store. Meanwhile, on Amazon, lesser-known chocolate brands are also selling versions of the treat although some of them have low star ratings based on reader reviews.
The most popular options on Amazon include unbranded 200g bars being sold for £15.98 each and with an average rating of 4.2 out of 5 based on 147 reviews and Eastanbul’s Dubai chocolate which is £21.99 for a 70g bar and has a rating of 3.7 out of 5.
On the Lindt website , in comparison, more than 100 shoppers have left Dubai chocolate an average rating of 4.1 stars out of 5, with 79% of shoppers saying they’d recommend the bars.
One happy customer said: “I expected this chocolate to be good, but oh boy this stuff is ridiculous. I only recommend buying this if you have Olympic levels of self control. Fabulous chocolate with a crunchy middle layer and gorgeous pistachios. A revelation.”
Another described it as ‘the best chocolate I’ve ever had,’ before adding: “Amazing chocolate, like nothing I have ever tasted before. My sister and mother both agreed it was the best chocolate they had ever tried. I will definitely be reordering when it is restocked.”
A third quipped it was ‘pricey but nicey’ adding: “Expensive, but a worthwhile treat for a special occasion.”
However, several shoppers flagged that the bar was thinner than traditional Dubai chocolate, which is renowned for being packed with filling. A one star reviewer explained: “The pistachio and kadayif quantity is very low. I am from Dubai and Dubai viral chocolate is in the limelight because of the taste of the kunefa but here the quantity is too low. Make it thick.”
