A charity shop customer has expressed her delight online after discovering a pair of “perfect fit” Dr Martens 1460 leather boots in a charity shop with a stunning price tag
A woman who stumbled upon a pair of Dr Martens boots in a charity shop was left floored by their price tag, prompting her to share her joy online. Taking to Reddit, the Goodwill customer posted four snaps of her footwear discovery after the boots proved to be a perfect fit.
“Found these today, had to tell someone,” declared user, Felisa1790. She continued: “Dr Martens 1460. Pascal Virginia Leather Lace Up Boots for $15! (£11.09). My size and fit me perfectly.” According to the Dr Martens website, these boots retail for more than 10 times that price at £170.
Felisa1790 proudly added an image of herself wearing the boots having left the store, whilst she also showed off the bargain price sticker.
“I saw them out of the corner of my eye and checked the size, my size!” she said. “Surely they won’t fit… fit perfectly! I almost ran out of there with my shoes. I couldn’t believe it!”
Writing in response, one Reddit user shared a similar experience: “Nice! I recently found a pair thrifting as well for $20 in great condition, I almost wept when I found out they fit.”
A second person declared: “Ooh really nice find! I’m jealous! Nice score!”
A third commented: “15 bucks – that’s awesome. I remember the old Doc Martens when I was in high school. My feet are all old and unhappy to be wearing boots anymore, running shoes for me.”
And a fourth Reddit user said: “I almost snagged a brand new pair as well, unfortunately they were too big! Sweet find!”
Others were curious about the Dr Martens’ country of origin, meanwhile. “Manufacturing location is a big factor with Docs,” another respondent pointed out. “I have several pairs and the best you can hope to find were made in England and says so on the bottom of the sole. They’re the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned and high quality workmanship.
“Still a good price and they look great. Congrats!”
To which Felisa1790 admitted in clarification: “I don’t think I was that lucky. Tag says made in Bangladesh. Oh well, still love them and got them for a great price!”
Last year, Dr. Martens was crowned the most iconic footwear of all time in a poll of 2,000 adults, beating Converse Chuck Taylor All Star and Nike Air Max to claim the top spot.
Originally launched in the UK in 1960 as a “work boot” for posties and factory workers, it has transformed into a fashion essential, boasting celebrity admirers including Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, and David Beckham.
Other noteworthy entries conducted in the Christmas wish list poll include UGG Boots, Oxford Brogues, and the Nike Air Jordan 1.
The study was conducted by footwear retailer schuh, forming part of its Past, Present(s), and Future campaign, which honours presents that endure far beyond Christmas morning.
