Molly-Mae Hague has shared her hen party outfit woes as she’s forced to rely on her ‘backup’ two-piece black co-ord that fans are calling ‘better than the original
We’ve all experienced a wardrobe mishap or two, and it seems even celebs aren’t immune to an outfit disaster as Molly-Mae Hague shared that she’d had a serious wardrobe malfunction whilst on holiday. Whilst in Ibiza for her sister’s hen do, the former Love Island star shared on Instagram that the zipper on her outfit had broken as she headed out for the evening.
Molly-Mae wrote: “Your sign to always pack a backup outfit just in case the zip bursts just as you’re walking out the door. This was my backup outfit.” It might not have been her first choice, but fans have been gushing about her Second Summer Yves Uro Peplum Top, £95 here, and the matching Santamaria Wide Leg Trousers, £130 here, that she wore instead.
“Back up better than the original anyway,” wrote one fan, whilst another said: “But it was better than the first!!!” Molly-Mae’s head-to-toe black look was a masterclass in chic holiday dressing, made from 100% linen for a cool, breezy feel whilst still being sharply tailored and figure-flattering.
The Love Island star’s exact look has now sold out, however we’ve been scouring the internet to find a backup of our own, and we’ve lucked out with this duo from Marks and Spencer. The Linen Rich Pleated Wide Leg Trousers, £39.50 here, and the Autograph Linen Blend Fitted Bandeau Top, £45 here, are an amazing alternative, offering a similar silhouette and shape to Molly-Mae’s.
Both pieces are made from a 55% linen blend that keeps them breathable, however the other materials in the blend help prevent the creasing that usually comes with pure linen, not to mention making them a more affordable alternative. Just like the star’s outfit, the top has a strapless design with a slight peplum flare around the hips, whilst the trousers feature tailored pleating down the front and a relaxed, wide leg fit.
Although the top has only just landed on the M&S website so there are no reviews as of yet, shoppers have been raving about the trousers. One person wrote: “I have been looking for a good quality pair of wide leg linen trousers that don’t cost a fortune and found these, good quality linen, hang nice and don’t crease too badly.”
Another said: “Love these trousers! Material is soft and they fit perfectly. Matched them with the linen waistcoat and they look really smart.”
If you’re not too bothered about sticking to Molly-Mae’s holiday-ready linen material, Boohoo has a great affordable option. The Linen Look Wide Leg Trouser, £13.50 here (was £18), and the coordinating Linen Look Button Front Longline Waistcoat, £12 here (was £16), are both currently included in the retailer’s sale and still have a 12% linen content without the price tag.
The strappy camisole-style top is also perfect for those who prefer to avoid a strapless top, helping offer a little more support and security. It might have only been her backup outfit option, but we suspect Molly-Mae’s co-ord is going to be inspiring plenty of holiday ‘fits this summer.
