A man has died from stab wounds and two others are in hospital following the attack in Hesterman Way, Croydon, London, in the early hours of this morning
Seven people have been arrested in a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death in the street.
Emergency services rushed to reports of an attack in Hesterman Way, Croydon, London, at 1.15am this morning and found three men with stab wounds.
A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital and has since died while two other males aged 21 also have received treatment. One of the two has “life threatening injuries” while the other is now in police custody.
The Met Police states: “Two women, both aged 25, and a 28-year-old man, have been arrested on suspicion of murder on the afternoon of Sunday, 15 February and remain in police custody.”
Both of the two men who were also stabbed and survived have been arrested on suspicion of affray as have an additional two women, aged 21 and 22.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, who is leading this investigation has said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family at his hugely difficult time, we cannot begin to imagine what they are going through.
“We understand that this incident will be distressing to the local community. My officers continue to work at pace to unpick the events that unfolded and to apprehend those responsible. We urge anyone who may have knowledge of the incident to get in touch with police immediately.”
Police are appealing to the public for information. The statement from the force read: “Met detectives have launched an investigation following a fatal stabbing in Hesterman Way, Croydon. At around at around 01:15hrs on Sunday, 15 February police were called to reports of a stabbing. Officers, along with the London Ambulance Service, attended the scene and found three men with stab wounds.
“A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where despite the best efforts of paramedics he sadly died. His next of kin have been told and are being supported by specialist officers.
“Two other men, both 21-years-old, were also taken to hospital, where one has injuries which are believed to be life-threatening. They have both since been arrested on suspicion of affray. The man with potential life-threatening injuries remains in hospital while the other has been taken into police custody.
“Two women, both aged 25, and a 28-year-old man, have been arrested on suspicion of murder on the afternoon of Sunday, 15 February and remain in police custody.”
And it continued: “Additionally, two further women, aged 21 and 22, were later arrested on suspicion of affray. The 21-year-old woman has been bailed while enquiries continue and the 22-year-old woman remains in police custody.
