The family of 23-year-old sports psychology student Ben Dooley have paid tribute to their beloved son after he was killed along with three other men following a collision on Liverpool Road on Friday
A heartbroken family has paid tribute to a beloved son who died in a car crash in Merseyside alongside three other men.
Ben Dooley, 23, tragically lost his life in the crash on Liverpool Road on Friday, July 24. Police said they were called to reports of a black Cupra crashed into a lamppost just before 2am. Four men, all in their 20s were pronounced dead at the scene, the force later confirmed.
A 27-year-old man, a passenger in the car, was taken to hospital where he is believed to be in a stable condition, the Liverpool Echo reports. Ben’s sister today shared tributes to the sports psychology student who loved playing football, paddle and darts and “lit up every room he was in”.
The keen gym-goer also enjoyed holidaying with family and going to festivals with his friends, she said.
In a heartbreaking tribute Ben’s mum Kerry said: “My son, my world, my best friend. It was me and you always. My life is ripped apart and I don’t know how I will do life without you. We did everything together.
“I’m waiting for you to walk through the door and say ‘you ok mum?’. You were the kindest person I knew with a heart of gold. Do anything for anyone. Loved by everyone who met you. I can’t describe how much I will miss you, it hurts so much. Fly high my baby boy. I love you.”
Ben’s sister Demi issued a moving tribute saying: “Ben my little brother, my one and only sibling, the one who always gave me advice and looked out for me, the most caring, kindest person in the world , my heart is broken.
“Feels like a terrible dream, I miss you so much already, the laughs we had and all the memories I will cherish forever. Love you my brother till we meet again.”
Demi said Ben was the heart of the family which included Roy, nephew Frankie, nan and grandad, nan Lorraine, uncle Kev, Deana, Georgia, Lucas and younger brother and sister Shay and Chloe.
The first victim of the crash to be identified was Craig Brady, 26. He was from a large family and had seven siblings as well as two kids of his own, Phoebe, 5, and Archie, 3, with his partner Ellie Jones. His heartbroken older sister, Kelsey Brady said the family is struggling to come to terms with his death.
The 29-year-old, from Dovecot, said: “He was my best mate. He was two years younger than me. It was just me and him growing up until the rest were born, so I don’t know life without him.”
She continued: “He was amazing. He was a big man about 6ft 2 but he was just like a teddy bear. He really was the most loving person ever. His girlfriend is absolutely distraught. I think she still thinks he’s coming home. She doesn’t believe it.”
