A 10-year-old child remains in a critical condition after he was hit by a car while crossing the road in Stanmore, London – a 28-year-old man has been arrested and bailed
A 10-year-old child is now fighting for his lfe after he was hit by a car while crossing the road.
The child remains in a critical condition following the incident at around 8.30am on Sunday on Honeypot Lane in the Stanmore area of London. The child was crossing the road on his scooter at the time.
A man, 28, has been arrested on suspicion on of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been interviewed under caution and bailed.
Police said: “At around 08:30hrs a 10-year-old boy was hit by a car while crossing the road on his scooter. The child was treated at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance, before being taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
“The driver – a 28-year-old man – stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been interviewed under caution and bailed.”
Police are keen to look at any footage of a black Volkswagen Golf GTI, which was involved in the collision, between 8:15am and 8:35am that morning.
Detective Sergeant Nush Puvitharan said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with this young boy and his loved ones at this very difficult time. A family had their lives turned upside down during a Sunday morning walk and our team are now working around the clock to piece together what happened.
“It’s imperative we gather as much evidence as we can to ensure we can build the full picture of the incident, and are encouraging anyone who can help to come forward and talk to us.”
