Jo Malone’s candle costs £28, meaning Sainsbury’s shoppers can save on a similar version from Habitat

Sainsbury’s has released a new set of items as part of its Habitat collection ahead of Christmas, and many shoppers are loving them, with some claiming they’re ‘really nice’ stocking fillers. The products were shared by a Facebook user on the popular group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

The user called Charlene said: “Any candle lovers these are reduced to £2 make nice stocking fillers I’m giving them to my cleaning clients. [From] Sainsbury’s.” She accompanied her post with a picture of the candles she bought in various scents, and it didn’t take long for people to show interest.

Online, the Habitat candles are priced at £3. However, according to Charlene’s post, she found some for slightly less at her local store, so it may be worth checking a store near you.

In the comment section, one person replied: “Wow that’s a good price for Habitat”. Another claimed: ” Lidl do these candles they lovely.” One more put: “I love the mandarin n basil ones.”

On Sainsbury’s website, shoppers can browse through three different scents of the Habitat Votive Candle with Lid. They include Mandarin and Basil, Rose and Amber, and Pomegranate and Baies.

In terms of appearance, the candles come in a translucent glass jar with cream-coloured wax inside. The silver lid is decorated with a black ribbon, which has ‘Habitat’ written over it.

The look of the candles, and their scents, may remind shoppers of luxury high-end brand Jo Malone, which is known for selling perfumes, candles and other beauty products. The designer brand’s most popular signature scent is its Pomegranate Noir, which is arguably followed by its Lime, Basil and Mandarin fragrance – similar to the ones Sainsbury’s is selling.

Sainsbury’s describes its £3 Mandarin and Basil Habitat Votive Candle as a “refreshing” fragrance. It adds: “This lovely luxe votive candle has a citrusy aroma blended beautifully with earthy, herbal undertones. Poured into a frosted glass holder and topped off with a glamorous silver lid and black bow.”

As for the Rose and Amber Habitat Votive Candle, Sainsbury’s says: “Velvet rose and amber, a blissful fragrance. This lovely luxe votive candle has a warm and decadently sweet aroma.”

The Pomegranate and Baies Habitat Votive Candle is also described as a “refreshing” scent. The supermarket continued: “This lovely luxe votive candle has a rich fruity aroma that’s sweet, cool and tangy. Think of juicy berries with floral notes.”

The Habitat candles are 60g and cost £3 online. Compared to Jo Malone’s Pomegranate Noir candle, which costs £28 for a 65g version, Sainsbury’s shoppers can save £25 on a similar-looking and smelling option.
