Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were memorablt snapped at a high-profile Hollywood party to celebrate Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday last year. The huge bash, which took place on the eve of Remembrance Sunday, saw the couple pose for pictures with the Kardashian matriarch, dressed for the black-tie event.
The images were uploaded to social media by the Kardashian clan, but as quickly as they were posted, they were mysteriously removed, leaving many to hypothesise on why the pictures had been deleted.
Now, two months on, Kim Kardashian has set the record straight. Speaking candidly on her sister Khloe’s podcast, Kim revealed that Harry and Meghan had asked for the photos to be taken down.
“It was really innocent, which is so crazy,” Kim explained before refuting rumours the photos were deleted as part of falling out between Kris and the Duchess. “Mum and Meghan have been friends for some years now, and they have a really sweet relationship.
“We were told that it was totally cool to post. And then after it was posted, I think they realised it was Remembrance Day and they didn’t want to be seen at a party, even though it’s already up, you know, and then taken down. And then I think they realised, like, ‘Oh this was so silly.'”
Harry and Meghan had also been seen at the Baby2Baby charity gala that day, but Kim said that while “that was fine”, the couple may not have been okay with images of them “partying and dancing on the dance floor or whatever” remaining online. “So we took them down to respect Remembrance Day.”
She added that she “hated” how the incident was viewed online: “If we just made it light and made it funny, you know, I think it would have been, like, received differently, but I hated how that was received for everyone. That sucks. It was just made into something that was so crazy and ridiculous that just didn’t have to be.”
Kris’ 70th birthday party was held on the night of Saturday, November *, the night before the Royal Family gathered at the Cenotaph in London for Remembrance Sunday. Harry wore a poppy pinned to his suit jacket for the party, while Meghan did not.
