Tom Parker Bowles, 51, previously said the drink is served during royal garden parties
Queen Camilla’s son recently shared a royal-approved recipe for making the perfect iced coffee. Tom Parker Bowles, 51, said that this beverage is frequently served at royal and main tea tents during garden parties.
In his 2024 book, Cooking and the Crown, he said: “A Garden Party stalwart, served in both the royal and main tea tents alike. The key is to use good coffee (this is not the time for instant) and not make it TOO sweet.”
If you’re eager to try Tom’s royal recipe, he first recommends gathering these ingredients:
- Double cream
- Brown sugar
- Coffee
- Milk
- Ice cubes
Tom thinks the drip method is one of the best ways to brew coffee. It typically involves pouring hot water over ground coffee through a filter at a slow rate.
The US-based National Coffee Association previously explained that such a method is often achievable using a machine and will likely create a consistent ‘bright-tasting beverage’. According to the Mirror, it said: “The machine does most of the work, and there are a wide range of drip coffee makers available, including many affordable options.”
Once brewed, allow the coffee to cool slightly before transferring it to a blender. At this stage, Tom suggested you can add cream, sugar, ice, and milk. “Blend until smooth and pour into two glasses,” he wrote.
You might be surprised, but this isn’t the only drink popular with the Royal Family. Reports from Hello! and MailOnline indicate that the Princess of Wales often starts her day with a ‘green juice’.
This mixture is said to include a potent blend of kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, coriander, blueberries, spirulina powder, and a small teaspoon of matcha powder. Four of these ingredients are commonly considered ‘superfoods’—highly nutritious items.
