A21 Kent: Diversion route under pressure
After a quick scan of traffic feeds for delays that may impact drivers using the A21 diversion and surrounding Kent routes, the situation on the ground is stop-start in some places.
As feared, the diversion route is struggling. There is heavy congestion at Tonbridge on the B245 (London Road) and A227 (Hadlow Road) as motorists funnelling off the A21 hit local traffic lights.
At the moment, motorists are looking at an extra 25-minute delay through Tonbridge town centre compared to usual Sunday traffic.
The final stretch of the diversion where you re-join the A21 is “stop-start” at Vauxhall Roundabout, so drivers are warned to keep their wits about therm while merging.
