River Mersey body found UPDATES: Police lock down Albert Dock in Liverpool

River Mersey body found UPDATES: Police lock down Albert Dock in Liverpool

Body found in River Mersey

A body has been found in the River Mersey, Liverpool Echo reports. Emergency services were called to Canning Dock in Liverpool city centre following reports of concern for the safety of a man.

Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue and ambulance services were called to the scene. The coastguard also attended and a huge search was launched, focusing on the water. Part of Albert Dock was also cordoned off by police.

Following enquiries, the body of a man was found in the River Mersey, police have confirmed. The man is yet to be formally identified.
