A TikTok user, known as @CoinCollectingWizard, recently shed light on the Atlantic Salmon 50p with his 269,000 followers.
He revealed: “With only 200,000 of these, this is an exciting day for coin collecting. It takes the crown from the all-mighty Kew Gardens 50p coin which held the title for the past 15 years.
“Launched at the tail end of 2023, the Atlantic Salmon 50p was released as part of the national celebrations for King Charles III’s Coronation year.
“This coin has now officially dethroned the Kew Gardens 50p, which had a mintage of 210,000 when it first came out in 2009.”
The expert said the Atlantic Salmon is desirable to many reasons. He added: “The coin has already started to gain attraction on eBay and other coin groups.
“And the price is skyrocketing, so keep an eye out for the new rarest 50p you can find in your change.”
Over in the comments section, many people rushed to share their excitement. One said: “My daughter has two of these,” to which the poster replied: “Excellent, keep them safe.”
And another commented: “Really excited, can’t control myself here.”
