BBC report into the conduct of veteran hip-hop DJ Tim Westwood has been put on hold at request of police
A BBC report into the conduct of DJ Tim Westwood has been put on hold at the request of the police.
The review into what the corporation knew about his alleged behaviour was commissioned in 2022 and was initially expected to be released a year ago. The former Radio 1 presenter, 67, faces historical sexual abuse claims from multiple women which he strongly denies.
Police have handed a file of evidence to prosecutors who are considering whether to bring charges. In July the BBC said the independent inquiry, understood to have cost more than £3million, was complete but could not be published because of “an ongoing police investigation”.
This week a BBC spokesman said: “The police have requested the BBC pause its intended publication to allow the investigating authorities further time to consider its impact on the ongoing investigation.”
After 20 years at the BBC, Westwood left in 2013 for Capital Xtra.
