Kylian Mbappe sought damages from Paris Saint-Germain in response to a contractual dispute, securing a nine figure sum as a labour court in the French capital ruled in the Real Madrid star’s favour
Kylian Mbappe has been awarded £52.5million (60 million euro) in damages from Paris Saint-Germain, after a French court ruled in his favour. The Real Madrid forward was awarded the nine-figure sum as a result of a dispute regarding unpaid salary and bonuses which reached a Parisian labour court in November.
Initially seeking £231.5m from his former club as a result of alleged ill-treatment and contractual dispute, Mbappe was awarded a little over a fifth of that amount in court on Tuesday. The court heard how PSG had failed to pay three months of the striker’s salary between April and June 2024.
It also came to light that PSG had failed to pay an ethics bonus and a signing bonus under his contract. As per BBC Sport, it is believed that the majority of the money awarded to Mbappe came from bonuses, rather than salary.

In a statement, Mbappe’s legal team said: “This judgement confirms that commitments entered into must be honoured. It restores a simple truth: even in the professional football industry, labour law applies to everyone. Mr Mbappe, for his part, scrupulously respected his sporting and contractual obligations for seven years, right up to the final day.”
Despite accepting the decision, PSG have failed to rule out making an appeal. The club had sought compensation of their own for a failed £263m move to Al-Hilal back in 2023, with Mbappe instead joining Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer.
A club statement from PSG read: “Paris St-Germain takes note of the judgement pronounced by the Paris Labour Court, which it will execute, while reserving the right to appeal. Paris St-Germain has always acted in good faith and with integrity, and will continue to do so.
“The club is now looking to the future, based on unity and collective success, and wishes the player the best for the rest of his career.”
Elsewhere, the labour court also ruled that PSG are to publish the full judgement on the front page of their official website for a month. It comes as Mbappe swapped out the French capital for the Spanish one last year on a free transfer.
After breaking through the Monaco youth system in 2015, the Frenchman joined PSG three years later in a deal understood to be worth around £166m. During his six-year stint with Les Parisiens, Mbappe racked up 256 goals and 110 assists, collecting six Ligue 1 titles and nine domestic trophies along the way.
After making the move to the Bernabeu last summer, Mbappe has continued to thrive with Los Blancos. In his debut season, the forward managed 31 goals from 34 outings and has also impressed in 2025/26.
This season thus far, Mbappe has 17 La Liga goals from as many appearances, as well as nine Champions League goals from five outings. Real Madrid currently sit second in the league standings, four points shy of fierce rivals, Barcelona, and will hope to bridge that gap when they face Sevilla on home soil come Saturday, December 20.
