The Royal Family will ensure it is business as usual while Prince Harry is pursuing legal action as The Firm fulfills its public duties and carry out engagments across the country, says Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers
Prince Harry’s latest court case will be met by the same mantra that has carried the royal family through generations of upheaval – Keep calm and carry on.
If further evidence that the monarchy was doing its best to focus its attention away from the Duke of Sussex’s action then look no further to the events of this week.
The King, who topped last year’s list as the most prolific member of the family undertaking public engagements, was in Scotland this week celebrating the achievements of businesses in Scotland.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were also engaged in their duties, traveling to Scotland to visit the Team GB Olympic and Paralympic curling teams as well as to shine a light on local heritage businesses.
The focus in the royal camp is very much centered how they can get on with the job without the distractions of the global attention Harry and his wife Meghan bring.
Just minutes after Harry finished giving his evidence at the High Court, Kensington Palace announced the Prince of Wales will soon – at the request of the British government – embark on an historic visit to Saudi Arabia.
Harry has not only been locked in court battles with the media, his much publicised pursuit of the British government also shows no sign of abating.
All of this makes for an unhappy marriage with the rest of his family, while relations with the majority of them remain close to rock bottom.
It is incredibly telling that while the King did see his estranged son during his last visit in September last year, albeit for under an hour, he has chosen to keep his distance this time around.
While Harry may talk publicly about wanting reconciliation with his family, his actions through years of high profile litigation, endless attacks in the media and his bombshell memoir, will do little to repair those shattered relationships.
