The retailer is selling a lamp that arguably looks expensive than it really is

Primark is stocking a ‘modern’ £14 lamp that arguably resembles a pricier version by a luxury brand. The high street chain is popular with shoppers seeking affordable clothing and homeware, and the retailer could have a new must-have on its shelves.

Primark’s £14 Metallic Touch Lamp looks similar to Safelles’ Ambient Touch Light, which is currently on sale for £65, down from £101. Shoppers should note that there are differences between the two lamps, but both options would likely impress interior design fans seeking a minimalist look.

The lamps can be easily interchanged without altering the overall style of a room, as they share these similarities. Both retailers have opted for a ‘sleek’, slim design with a metallic finish. For shoppers who prioritise price, Primark’s lamp could be a tempting pick. However, the luxury version could be preferable for shoppers who want a dimmable lamp.

Primark describes its product as a “modern low-lit metallic lamp with a touch on and off function.” The notes state: “3000K-6000K colour temperature, contains a built in non-replaceable re-chargeable battery.”

It also specifies the lamp is only suitable for indoor use. The lamp is available in bronze or white, and shoppers can check in-store availability on Primark’s website.

Safelles’ description states: “Style and functionality meet with our Ambient Touch Lights. Offering the luxury of light wherever and whenever you need it. Bring timeless elegance and customisable illumination to your home or establishment with ease.”

The description continues: “Featuring three temperature settings – warm, cool, and a combination of both – tailor lighting to your preference with just a tap. Easily customise the brightness level of each setting using our dimming feature, ensuring the perfect level of illumination for any occasion.”

The lamp proved popular with reviewers on the brand’s website. One shopper claimed: “This lamp is not only aesthetically gorgeous and dimmable, but the cordless feature lets me set the mood in every room I’m in. It’s the perfect size and the charge really lasts. I highly recommend!”

Another customer wrote: “I love these lights! They are just the right size to fit anywhere I need them. I appreciate that there is a warm tone setting as it looks more natural to me. The light is sleek and stylish, and has been a wonderful addition to my patio.”

The lamp is available in gold, black, or silver, and can be purchased directly from the brand’s website. For those interested in more than one lamp, the website is currently offering a buy two get one free offer.

Alternatively, Primark also sells a £14 Touch lamp in black, with a similar design. The retailer describes its offering as “a standing touch lamp to bring illumination to your space.” It is not currently available for click and collect, but shoppers can check in-store availability online.
