Love a beauty bargain? These new Primark perfumes have just dropped and look a lot like far pricier scents – and shoppers have been quick to see how they compare
Looking for a stocking filler for a beauty-loving teen, or a new everyday perfume that won’t break the bank? Head down to your local Primark store where a new range of scents has just dropped, which look considerably like another well-known fragrance brand – but for a fraction of the cost. But do they smell they same too, shoppers have been wondering…?
Launching in stores today, Primark Beauty has launched a new five-piece collection of eau de parfums called the PS… Soft Scent Fragrances, priced at a very respectable £5 for each 50ml bottle. While we haven’t sniffed them ourselves yet, we couldn’t help but notice how similar the bottles look to one particular TikTok-famous fragrance brand: Phlur.

Phlur perfumes and body mists have proved to be a huge hit, with beauty fans loving the gourmand scents and Instagrammable bottles of bestsellers such as Missing Person, Heavy Cream and the new Afterglow. But at £99 for a 50ml bottle of eau de parfum, Phlur’s are considerably more expensive than these new Primark alternatives. But are they comparable?
In short, according to TikTok, not really. In one video, the content creator remarked how Primark’s Whipped Cream, which we assume is supposed to resemble Phlur’s Heavy Cream, “smells nothing like” it and has a “strong violet note”. They do, however, think that it instead smells “just like” Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa ’59, and lasts “a decent time on the skin”.
PS… Role Model Eau De Parfum, meanwhile, scored a 6/10 in this particular review. Looking similar to Phlur’s Father Figure, the user said that “it’s not really like it but not bad. Smells fresh and clean”.
The Primark scent that scored the highest in this review though was PS… Cherry Crush, being described as “like a simplified version of Lost Cherry”, one of Phlur’s newer fragrances. In another TikTok video, Primark’s Sweet Strawberry scored highest, with someone calling it “the best one! Phlur’s is too earthy for me”.
The general consensus on social media, however, is that while these Primark perfumes aren’t bad for their price and look cute on your dressing table, smell-wise they’re not particularly comparable to Phlur’s most iconic scents, so you’re probably best off sticking with the originals. If you want to try Phlur scents for less, opt for the hair and body mists over the eau de parfums, which is what our beauty editor Laura finds herself reaching for to spritz on during the day.
