The fun and quirky mug might seem great at first glance but a few Primark fans had one concern
Primark shoppers have been divided over a new addition to the homeware section that’s “cute” but could be “quite uncomfortable”. The new £3.50 cake slice mug has been shared online with fans – many adore it, while others aren’t so sure.
The mug, which can be viewed online from Primark Home for £3.50, comes individually, but shoppers were quickly “obsessed” with the idea of getting six. Thanks to their ‘slice’ shape, combining a collection of the mugs would resemble a full round cake – sure to be an eye-catching statement in any kitchen.
The novelty cup is an eye-catching baby pink colour with plenty of ‘sprinkles’. There’s even some ‘whipped cream’ detailing around the edges.
On a popular Facebook page called Snack Reviews, the new £3.50 cake slice mugs were shared. One person replied: “You have to buy all six. There’s no other way forward!”
However, many pointed out that, whilst it may look cute and quirky, the mug itself may not be the most practical choice for anyone planning to drink from it. Another person wrote: “I would defy anyone to try and drink from them without wearing most of their drink!”
Someone commented: “They look quite uncomfortable to drink out of!” A fifth person shared: “Perfect example of just because you can doesn’t mean you should!”
Another posted: “You just know you’ll have one hot drink in them, which will be uncomfortable and awkward to drink from.” Others got creative and shared other ways the mug could be used besides drinking.
Some suggested using it as a fun way to serve desserts instead of bowls. Another said she’d converted her ‘cakes’ into flower pots, adding: “[I] planted some cute pink and white flowers in them to display.”
A third suggestion was: “I think this is lovely for a custard boat. Would pour really nicely and look lovely too.” Primark does stock a range of mugs in its home section that offer dashes of personality. From character mugs to animals and objects, there’s plenty of choice from as little as £3.
In other news, Primark shoppers might soon be able to avoid the hassle of hunting for items on the shop floor as the click-and-collect service is reportedly rolling out smoothly across the country. It’s currently only available in a handful of stores but is on track to be in place nationwide by the end of 2025.
