Officers and paramedics raced to the residential street following reports of an assault
Police swarmed a residential street after a woman was injured in a horror knife attack this afternoon.
Officers and paramedics raced to Charlock Walk in Partington, Trafford, at around 1pm following reports of an assault at a property. Witnesses reported seeing armed police at the scene before a woman in her 40s was taken to hospital with an injury to her stomach.
Police have arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of section 18 assault. He remains in custody for questioning.
CSI teams and plain-clothed detectives were seen conducting enquiries at the scene as police warned residents that officers will remain in the area to carry out their investigation.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 1pm on Sunday 8 February, we were called to reports of an assault at a property on Charlock Walk, Partington.
“Officers attended and located a woman in her 40s with an injury to her stomach. She has been taken to hospital however injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing. A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remains in custody for questioning.
“We do not believe there is a wider risk to the general public however officers will remain in the area to provide reassurance to the community as they carry out their investigation.”
