The exact nature of the incident remains unknown – multiple police cars and an ambulance were spotted at the scene late on Tuesday night as the road was cordoned off
A road in Birmingham has been cordoned off near a school after police and paramedics raced to an incident overnight.
Ambulances and police vehicles were witnessed on St Saviour’s Road in the Alum Rock area of Birmingham, a suburb two miles east of the city centre. They were shown in the area during darkness on social media videos which were published at around 1am.
The videos on social media allegedly show a large emergency service response to the incident.
Multiple police cars and an ambulance are visible in the clips. Residents can be seen watching on as a significant emergency service operation is underway.
Neighbours also reported witnessing drones flying overhead at roughly 1:15am. It is not known if the drones were flying in connection to the reported incident, or who was flying the drones.
A police cordon was still in place on St Saviour’s Road by 3am, when the emergency presence had been significantly scaled back as only two officers were at the scene.
The cordon is near a school, but it is not thought that the incident involved the school. The exact nature of the incident has yet to be confirmed.
West Midlands Police has been contacted for comment.
