A woman has been pronounced dead after emergency services rushed to a footpath this morning
A police cordon remained in place this afternoon, blocking a section close to Junction Road in Bolton.
Greater Manchester Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious. Emergency services were called over reports of concern for welfare.
Two air ambulances landed nearby on Deane Golf Club, and a footpath off Junction Road which runs alongside the Deane Church Brook towards the cemetery was taped off. Throughout the morning and into the afternoon, officers were standing guard at the cordon.
A GMP spokesperson said: “Emergency services responded to reports of a concern for welfare on Junction Road in Bolton this morning (Monday 2 March 2026).
“Sadly, a woman died at the scene. The scene will remain in place whilst officers conduct their enquiries.”
