Police believe a body discovered at Hanley’s Central Forest Park is missing Stoke-on-Trent woman Lisa Nixon, last seen on Christmas Day

A body has been found in the search for a missing woman who was last seen on Christmas Day.

Police believe a body discovered at Hanley’s Central Forest Park on Saturday is missing Stoke-on-Trent woman Lisa Nixon.

The 46-year-old was last seen on Waterloo Road, Hanley, at about 2:30pm on Christmas Day. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Formal identification is yet to take place.

Lisa had also been seen in the the Birches Head area at 2pm on Christmas Eve, before the last confirmed sighting the next day.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We can sadly confirm that a body has been found in the search for missing 46-year-old Lisa from Stoke-on-Trent. Lisa was reported missing on January 3.

“Sadly, a body was discovered on Saturday afternoon in Central Forest Park, Hanley. Formal identification will take place in due course, though at this time, we believe the woman to be missing Lisa.

“Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers at this difficult time. We are treating the death as unexplained. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.

“Our inquiries are continuing. Anyone with relevant information, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage should contact us.”

Witnesses have been told to call 101, quoting incident number 280 from January 17. Anonymous reports can also be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

It comes amid concerns for a 58-year-old British man who has not been since since January 5.

Kenny Robertson disappeared while on holiday in Thailand. His family say he was last in contact that day from Bangkok Airport, though a brief email was sent to a mate three days afterwards. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Kenny was travelling Thailand on his own when he vanished.

His relatives say it’s completely unlike him not to stay in touch. Kenny had been intending to explore for several weeks by himself before doing voluntary work at a dog sanctuary. Yet the dog sanctuary hasn’t received any communication from him.

In an appeal posted on Facebook, friend Jordan McLeod wrote: “My friend has been reported missing after arriving in Thailand. He has made no further contact with friends or family which is very out of character for him. If you can do anything please share.”

A missing persons poster was circulated on social media alongside the urgent plea to locate him. Kenny is described as 5ft 6in and wears glasses.
