Parents are swearing by an Amazon tablet to keep their children entertained during the summer holidays, and it’s currently reduced. The Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Pro tablet would usually cost £199.99 but has dropped down to £149.99 for a limited time on both Amazon and Argos.
The tablet has a 10.1″ 1080p Full HD display and comes with a two-year worry-free guarantee, which means the tablet can be replaced at no extra cost if children manage to break it. It also comes with a free year of Amazon Kids+, which lets them access books, games and apps – this will then be charged at £4.99 a month.
Parents can set screen-time limits, pause and resume the device and approve app requests from their phone due to handy parental controls. There’s an impressive 13 hours of battery life from a full charge, and the device comes with a protective case with a built-in stand.
Samsung also have a budget-friendly tablet available with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11, which is now reduced from £149 to £125 on Amazon. It does have a smaller screen and isn’t designed as solely a kids tablet.
For those wanting something for their toddler, LeapFrog’s My First ABC Tablet is a good introduction. The £16.99 device has buttons and makes learning letters an interactive experience.

Back at Amazon, the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Pro Tablet has pulled in an average of 4.5 out of 5 from across 2,261 global ratings. One lengthy review reads: “I was that parent who said: ‘My child is not having a tablet’, well, let me tell you, this one has completely changed my mind. Not only is it fantastic for long journeys, but the educational apps are genuinely excellent.
“I bought it on sale for around £100, and I would happily pay three times that amount for the amount of fun and learning it has given my son. The screen is large and very responsive.
They continued to praise the lack of lag when using it, writing: “Unlike some other tablets, I have not noticed any lag at all. Setup is incredibly simple, just sign in with your Amazon account, and you are ready to go. It is particularly well-suited for children because they cannot make any purchases without parental approval via the Amazon website or app. That means no nasty surprises or sudden £300 bills for character skins. It connects easily to WiFi and Bluetooth devices, and the battery life is excellent. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the speakers.”
The reviewer was also thrilled by the worry-free guarantee, as they said: “The protective case is an absolute must-have for little ones. It feels very solid and can withstand drops well. The free peace of mind warranty has already proved its worth. When my son somehow managed to crack the screen, the replacement process was completely hassle-free. One shopper was disappointed by the screens themselves, writing: “Great parental controls, really clear display and it’s quite loud. Battery lasts forever! My only dislike is that the screens aren’t great. I bought three of these at Christmas for my kids, and I’ve already had to get a replacement for 2 of them due to them being dropped by accident and the screen smashing.”
The battery life has also proven a hit, this parent said: “Great tablet for kids and can be linked to Amazon Kids parental controls (Extra Cost). Battery lasts ages. Is a little heavy but it takes a bashing. It has been stood on, stomped and thrown during several tantrums but no damage.”
