The new portable air fryer uses glass containers as frying baskets, which is easier to clean and check on food, but there’s more you can do with it
Ninja has become the household name in the air fryer space and they have launched a new air fryer that is small enough to fit inside your kitchen cupboard. The Ninja Crispi air fryer, retails at £179.99, is also a multi-purpose tool that is built to be portable.
Unlike the air fryers you have seen before, the fry basket is now upgraded to a glass tupperware that you can use it as your lunch box, meal prep bowl to marinate your meat, fish or vegetables and also food container for leftovers.
Whether you use it to air fry, keep warm, roast or recrisp, the portable cooking system in this new Ninja Crispi gives the power of a full-sized air fryer but minus the weight and size. The kitchenware giant said: “Simply snap the lightweight, handheld 1700-watt PowerPod onto one of the glass cooking containers to create family-size meals and personal portions with four cooking functions. Plus, cook with up to 50% less energy than a fan oven.”

The idea is similar to a handheld blender – place the PowerPod on top of one of the two TempWare Glass Containers (1.4L or 3.8L) and heat up to 185°C to cook and crisp your food.
A handy tip to use the Ninja Crispi is that you can marinate and prepare your food directly in the glass containers, then when it’s cooked, you can serve directly to the table without needing to transfer to a serving dish. If you want to save leftovers or meal prep for later, Ninja said you can add one of the included BPA-free lids, sharing: “The smaller container includes a leak-resistant snap-lock lid to take your meal on-the-go, mess-free. Do it all in one container to save on washing up.”
Ninja fans were obsessed with it as one five-star shopper noted: “The glass baskets are a winner for me, letting you see your food as it cooks and the fact leftovers can also be stored in those is a great idea. I also found it easier to clean than our existing Ninja dual basket air fryer.”
A second added: “Stacks well for storing away if needed or if kept out it looks aesthetically pleasing.”
Some, however, said the Ninja Crispi is not big enough to cook a meal for a family. One Ninja product tester shared: “I cooked enough chips to feed 3 people and it took over 45 minutes to cook them well enough. It is good for cooking things like chicken, fish, sausages etc and you can put your veggies in around it to make a full meal almost for 2 people depending on your portion size.”
Another agreed and pointed out that the PowerPod is “rather heavy” that elderly users might struggle with. For £179.99, the Ninja Crispi comes with two glass containers with the bigger 3.8L tub able to cook a whole 1.2kg chicken, two storage lids and two non-stick Crisper plates.
