Fire crews have now been withdrawn after managing to contain a massive blaze at Star Trading Estate, Caerleon, in Newport, south Wales, that broke out in the middle of the night
A huge inferno broke out on an industrial estate in the early hours of this morning with dozens of firefighters battling the blaze for hours.
Emergency services rushed to Star Trading Estate, Caerleon, Newport, at around 2.40am this morning following the “large industrial fire” with people evacuated and the public have been told to avoid the area.
Our powerful images show just how serious the situation was but thankfully, the site was evacuated and all people accounted for as they public were ordered to stay well away.
Crews have now been withdrawn after containing the massive fire which broke out in the middle of the night, with ten engines at the scene. Emergency services were called when residents reported hearing popping sounds and started smelling smoke.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the main firefighting operation had been completed, but crews will “continue to monitor the site”.
