The money saving specialist claimed that some items ‘might be cheaper’ if people take a closer look
People could be leaving deals behind when they shop at B&M by trusting what they see on the shelves. Instead, they should ignore what is “wrong” and get their phones out to do one simple check.
The discount store is often a treasure trove for bargains, but not all deals might seem so obvious to shoppers who rely on the price tags. In most cases, people walk away from a potential deal because of a subtle mistake made by store staff.
Jordon Cox, known online as the Coupon King and for regular appearances on ITV’s This Morning, shared a simple tip for people next time they shop at B&M. It could end up surprising people with savings at the checkout if they ignore the ‘full price’ on display.
In his video, he said: “This secret trick reveals hidden bargains at B&M. See these pricing stickers? Some of them are wrong. Some products are cheaper than advertised, and the stickers just don’t get updated.
“On the B&M app, you can use their barcode scanner to tell you the real price you’ll pay at the till. Use this trick to scan everything and find a basket of deals.”
In the video, Jordon showed an example of a £15 plant that would actually end up being sold at the till for £10, despite what the sticker claims. He also showed some furniture reduced from £15 to £12 and tech down from £25 to £15 after a quick scan using the built-in feature on B&M’s official app.
Explaining more alongside his post, which has attracted more than 5,300 likes on Instagram, Jordon said: “Not every item is going to be cheaper than advertised, but a number were. It’s mostly on homeware goods, games and tech, as opposed to perishables or garden equipment.
“Also, a little side note, if the price doesn’t scan through at the app price at the till, just show the cashier who will honour it. I thought it was a fun little game to play and, if you can find a bargain on something you want, it’s a win-win!”
Download the B&M app by looking up the brand on your smartphone. The app with the barcode scanner is free from Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store.
In other money-saving news, shoppers at B&M could bag themselves an essential winter gadget that dries clothes, stops mould and banishes odours . The compact dehumidifier device costs £25.
While shoppers can choose from various options, as there are multiple retailers offering different kinds of dehumidifiers, B&M has reduced the price of a ‘compact’ version. Its Blaupunkt Compact Dehumidifier 1L is available in stores now, on sale for £25.
It features a 1-litre water tank and an auto shut-off function. B&M notes that the gadget can extract up to 300ml of excess moisture daily. The mains-powered dehumidifier also features seven LED mood lights that can change colour or remain constant.
