You need to do several things to qualify for the Nationwide extra payments
Nationwide Building Society has called on both members and non-members alike to see if they can get some bonus cash. As we head into the new year, many people may be taking a fresh look at their finances. You may considering moving around your savings to get a better rate, or otherwise switching bank provider to get a better service.
The mutual has put out a call to anyone with a bank account to have a look this January and see if they’re in line for a bonus payout from the provider. The organisation has rolled out an advert featuring this cheeky message: “Gain 175 pounds this January.”
This is a playful nod to the fact that a lot of people pledge to shed some weight as their New Year’s Resolution, after putting on a few extra pounds during the festive season. You may be hitting the gym to work off those extra calories from your Christmas pudding, but you could also pocket a £175 bonus from the building society.
The advert, spotted in London, goes on: “Switch your current account to the Which? Banking Brand of the Year and get £175.” The message centres around the £175 payout you can get if you move your current account across to Nationwide.
How do you qualify for the £175 Nationwide switch offer?
There are several steps to complete to get the payment. You will need to complete a switch from a non-Nationwide current account to either a new or existing FlexDirect, FlexAccount or FlexPlus account.
You must carry out a full switch using the Current Account Switch Service, which includes closing down your previous account. Your switch must include at least two active direct debits from your old account, to get the switch incentive.
The switch must be finalised within 28 days of making your request. You also need to deposit a minimum of £1,000 into your new account and make at least one debit card payment from the Nationwide account.
These two tasks must be completed within 31 days of either opening your new Nationwide account or applying to switch over to an existing account. The £1,000 can be deposited as a single payment or in multiple instalments.
The debit card payment can include most purchases in a shop or online, or a recurring card payment.
When is the final deadline to qualify for the £175 Nationwide payment?
The provider was recently asked if it has set a deadline for the switch offer. Nationwide responded: “The switching offer will be available for a limited period, but we have not yet confirmed an end date.”
