You can pay in cash into your current account or savings account
Nationwide Building Society has provided an update regarding its cash deposit policies that apply across all its branches. The clarification followed a customer’s question on social media. The person asked if they could deposit a Scottish £10 note.
Nationwide initially confirmed: “Any of our branches will be able to accept a deposit of Scottish notes.” They also directed the customer to a branch locator tool on the Nationwide website. In light of the question, Nationwide was asked for further guidance about making cash deposits in branch.
The provider said: “All our branches are able to accept deposits of bank notes, including Scottish ones. They can also be deposited via our self-serve ATMs as well.”
The building society also outlined some alternative ways you can deposit money in branch. The group said: “Customers can also pay bags of coins into their Nationwide current account or savings accounts at any of our branches.”
Customers are able to deposit bags of coins into their Nationwide current account or savings account at any Nationwide branch. When handing over bags of coins, customers must ensure each bag contains the same denomination of coins.
Full bags can be deposited containing either:
- £1 or £2 coins to the value of £20
- 50p or 20p coins to the value of £10
- 10p or 5p coins to the value of £5
- 2p or 1p coins to the value of £1.
Nationwide’s website provides these instructions: “You can deposit any amount of full bags into your account. We just ask that you separate the coins into full bags that contain only one type of coin.
“If you have a large number of coins to deposit, please call your local branch first to see if they are able to accept them.” You can also deposit loose coins and change into your account.
The guidance explains: “If you’re depositing a small amount of loose coins, you can pay these in at a Nationwide branch. If you have a large number of loose coins, we can give you bags to separate these into.”
