A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 40s was found dead in a caravan in Derby Road, Loughborough, on Monday night
A murder investigation is under way after a man was found dead in a caravan in Loughborough.
Leicestershire Police said it was alerted at around 11.40pm on Monday to a report of a “sudden death” in a caravan on Derby Road. East Midlands Ambulance Service attended and pronounced the man, who was in his 40s, dead at the scene.
Police said the man was reported to have been involved in an altercation in the days before his death. A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, the force said on Wednesday.
Enquiries are in the early stages as officers work to establish what happened and what led to the man’s death. Officers are carrying out forensic investigations in the area, Leicestershire Live reports.
Detective Inspector Mike Chandler, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), is leading the investigation.
He said: “I’ve got a dedicated team of officers working to understand what’s happened in this altercation and the events that led to the death of this man.
“Officers will be in the area of Derby Road over the coming days, carrying out enquiries and forensic investigations. A cordon will remain in place while these enquiries are carried out.”
