Ellen Jones, 40, from Camborne, claims her family were barred from entertainment at Lizard Point Holiday Park in Cornwall after complaining about security during a missing child scare – but the park says it was due to “inappropriate behaviour towards staff”
A furious mum has labelled a UK holiday park “disgusting” after staff barred her family from the final night’s entertainment.
Ellen Jones, 40, from Camborne, has lodged a formal complaint about her experience at the Parkdean Resort in Cornwall.
The mum-of-three was staying at the Lizard Point Holiday Park in Ruan Minor for the weekend and believes she was treated unjustly because she complained about the manner in which a security guard addressed her family during a missing child incident. The park, however, insists it was restricted due to “inappropriate behaviour” towards staff.

“I booked the weekend for myself and my family and my sister booked for herself and her family,” Ms Jones explained, noting that during the stay one of her teenage nieces went missing for a period. “My sister (her step mum) spent an hour looking for her but wasn’t able to locate her so she spoke to security.
“The security guard asked how long she had been missing and my sister explained it’s been an hour and she had already been to look for her. He then proceeded to tell us with an attitude she should call the police as a child is missing.
“Thankfully she was found and all was good. We went to the evening entertainment as a family and felt we were being watched all evening but didn’t let it bother us.”, reports Cornwall Live.
On the final evening she claims she was shocked to be turned away by security. “They told me it was due to our attitude which was a shock as we hadn’t done anything wrong,
“My children and my nieces were extremely upset as they were looking forward to seeing the characters and enjoying the entertainment. “
Ellen has since lodged a formal complaint, stating she believes the family were banned as a result of reporting the security incident, insisting she was “well within my rights to do so”. She has requested that staff review CCTV footage to confirm the family were never discourteous, but is yet to receive a response.
“I feel like I’m being pushed from pillar to post,” Ellen added.
“We couldn’t see the last night of entertainment that we’ve paid for. It’s disgusting. There was no attitude whatsoever from our family.”
A spokesperson for Lizard Point Holiday Park said: “The family were restricted from entering the entertainment venue due to inappropriate behaviour towards our staff. The safety and wellbeing of our team and guests is always our priority, and we have a zero-tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour.”
