She proceeded to detail the M&S perfumes alongside their pricier equivalents. In a voiceover, the TikToker pointed out some notable bargains: “You guys loved my Marks and Spencer’s [alternative] perfume video last year, so I couldn’t resist popping in to see what they have this year. And along with the classics, they’ve added a few more, so I thought I’d show you my top picks.
“So first up we have Velvet Amber, which is a stunning alternative to Chanel’s No. 5. It’s a total classic and refined scent. Next is Fresh Mandarin, and if you’re a fan of Caroline Herrera’s Good Girl, you’re gonna absolutely love this. It’s a vibrant and fresh scent.
“Next is Warm Neroli, which has Paco Rabanne Lady Million vibes all over it. It’s bold and a statement-making scent. Next is Spiced Bergamont. Great match for Calvin Klein’s Woman.”
She added: “Next is Midnight Blossom, which is a great [alternative] for Eve Saint Laurent’s Black Opium. Next is Sea Salt and Neroli, which is similar to Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt; a refreshing coastal scent.
“Next is White Coconut. Now if you love The White Company’s Seychelles, this creamy and comforting fragrance will transport you straight to paradise. It’s one of my favourites. I love it.
“Next is Gardenia and Vanilla, which is a sweet and feminine fragrance just like Marc Jacobs Daisy. And last but not least is Red Berries and Rose, which is my absolute favourite. It’s a fruity, floral, musky scent. As a dead ringer for Giorgio Armani Si.
“I’m a big fan of these fragrances and with them being under £10, they make a great gift for yourself and for others this Christmas.”
The post proved popular with followers, with many a number of people quick to comment beneath the video. It racked up more than 201k views and thousands of likes from TikTokers.
Beneath the clip, one shopper said: “white coconut and the vanilla are my faves. Just bought the 100ml”, while a second wrote: “Velvet Amber an absolute game changer for me. Smells so good. Will try a few others!” A third added: “I bought most of them! Favourite are red berries and midnight blossom.”
A fourth excited shopper said: “I have the White Coconut on your advice. I love it. I’ve had so many compliments when I wear it. I’m going to try a few more. Thank you. Merry Christmas.”
A fifth wrote: “I have a couple of these ..they smell absolutely lovely truly worth the money.” However, one shopper said: “I have the first 3 and also have them in the original perfumes and they are not [an alternative] sadly.” In response, @the_petite_lady wrote: “They are never going to be an exact match but they have the same base scent and I think are great at under £10!”
By snapping up the M&S alternatives, shoppers could save themselves hundreds of pounds. For YSL fans, the high street retailer could save you around £115, while Jo Malone lovers could save roughly £115.
Alternatively, Boots has slashed the price of a number of fragrances, including Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu Eau de Parfum for £50 (down from £100), Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine For Her Eau de Parfum for £57 (down from £95) and Emporio Armani He Eau de Toilette for £28.50 (down from £57).
