The ‘anti-mould’ cleaner has earned numerous five-star reviews from homeowners
Screwfix is selling a £6.50 mould remover spray that ‘works a treat’, according to customers. Commonly found in British homes, mould is formed due to excess moisture, often occurring in rooms prone to condensation, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Not only is mould unsightly, but it can also cause health problems, including allergic reactions and lung inflammation. Children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems face a heightened risk. Increasing ventilation, using a dehumidifier, and addressing any leaks can help eliminate mould. Many retailers also sell sprays designed to tackle the problem.
The HG Mould, Mildew and Algae Remover Spray 500ml, available for £6.49 from Screwfix, is popular with reviewers. In the reviews, one claimed ‘mould vanishes’ two minutes after the spray is applied.
The product description for the ‘trade-rated’ product states: “Anti-mould cleaner with bleaching effect. Easy-to-use spray formula for targeted use and reduced splashing. Removes mould, mildew, fungus and algae in damp places, and prevents re-growth.
“Can be used on grouting, seals, and plastered or tiled walls including marble. Ideal for use in areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, showers, swimming pools and saunas, as well as conservatories, gardens, sheds and outdoor furniture. Can also be used for cleaning facades, balconies, plant boxes and garden ornaments (excluding wood). Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Bleaches mould and algae spots. Test in an inconspicuous place before applying.”
Reviewing the product online, the customer who said they saw results in two minutes wrote: “The mould vanishes two minutes after applying it! I’ve applied it to my bathroom and walls. Absolutely fantastic product! 100% recommended!!”
Another shopper said: “Bought this to tackle some horrendous black mould. Worked a treat. Left for half an hour as suggested, washed off and now you wouldn’t know there was ever any mould!”
A different buyer commented: “This is fantastic removed mould from sanitary sealant like magic. Also pretty good on grouting although needs a couple of applications. Also used on emulsion paint that was getting mould next to window works great. Rarely have I been so impressed with a product.”
