People with a Motability Scheme vehicle can benefit from the service for free

Motability Scheme users have been urged to download a free app for quick access to breakdown support. If something goes wrong on the road, the service helps motorists get support with ‘just a tap’.

As the Motability Scheme website explains, anyone with a Motability Scheme vehicle is covered by RAC Motability Assist for breakdown assistance for the duration of their lease. The RAC says that using its app offers the ‘quickest way to get help’ if your vehicle has broken down.

In a YouTube video, RAC Breakdown spokesperson Simon Williams explained how drivers can access support. For an interview shared on the Motability Scheme account, he spoke with Motability Scheme ambassador Mark Ormrod.

The caption explained: “When something goes wrong on the road, knowing help is just a tap away can make all the difference. Motability Scheme ambassador Mark Ormrod shares how the RAC app gives him added confidence and independence as part of his Motability Scheme lease. From quick access to breakdown support to real-time updates, it’s designed to make every journey feel more manageable.”

In the video, Simon said: “So Mark, picture this. You’ve broken down. But there’s a really quick and easy way to log your breakdown once you’re in a safe location.” Mark replied: “The myRAC app.”

Simon answered: “That’s it.” He continued: “It’s very easy, and we’ve recently made it even easier for Motability Scheme customers to set up.” After Mark asked how to set it up, Simon explained that there are three steps involved.

He said: “All you have to do is download the app. Just enter your email. If you already have a Motability Scheme online account, the app will recognise that. Then you can call us out. Just tap on the rescue warning triangle icon to start reporting your breakdown. And that’s it.”

Simon explained that there are no further steps; you simply need to wait for help to arrive. “And then we’ll prioritise you just the same as we would do if you called in,” he said.

Wrapping up the video, Mark asked what other services people can access using the app. Simon replied: “You can find the cheapest places to get fuel, and you can also get motoring advice.”

Thanking Simon for the tip, Mark revealed that the service would be a big help to him. Simon said: “No problem, Mark. Download it today. Then you’ll always have it at hand.”

Motability users should be aware that the service only covers their Scheme vehicle. As the website explains, it doesn’t cover any other vehicle you travel in.
