Charlotte Hawkins was recently spotted wearing a colourful and flattering playsuit from the high street, and it’s a must-have for this summer’s festivals and holidays
The high street has really been stepping up its summer clothing this year, and we’ve spotted countless celebs picking up pieces to wear to major summer events. But whilst the likes of Wimbledon has given us plenty of inspiration for more formal occasions, we’ve been keeping an eye out for some great every day pieces that’ll see us through everything from holidays to festivals.
Luckily we can always count on Good Morning Britain host Charlotte Hawkins to show us how to bring a little bit of colour and fun to our day-to-day looks, and her latest outfit was no exception. For the recent Soho House Festival, Charlotte wore the Lipsy Leaf Print Belted Playsuit from Next, which you can pick up for £58 – and it’s exactly what our summer wardrobe has been missing.

The colourful playsuit is the perfect versatile pick that you could wear for all kinds of events and occasions, whether it’s on holiday, to the pub, or for an upcoming festival. A simple switch up of shoes and accessories will instantly transform the Leaf Print Belted Playsuit thanks to its colourful print and flattering, relaxed fit, so you can get plenty of wear out of it.
For an evening dinner date abroad, pair it with heels, a slicked back hair style and some strappy heels, or team it with trainers and a tote bag for an afternoon with friends or a day sightseeing. For an upcoming festival, simply pair it with some statement sunglasses and a pair of wellies or chunky boots to survive the mud.
The print itself was inspired by the Frida Kahlo artwork Me and My Parrots from 1941, and features a bold orange backdrop with a deep green parrot and leaf print all across it and fuchsia pink trim. The fit of the Leaf Print Belted Playsuit is just the right balance between fitted and relaxed, with A-line shorts, short puff sleeves, and a V-neckline, and it comes with an adjustable tie belt to help define your waist.
Although Charlotte’s playsuit is made from polyester, which makes it easier to iron and wash, it’s not necessarily the most breathable fabric, especially in the heat. If you want a more natural, breezy feel, this Kay Linen Playsuit from Boden is ideal.
There are three different prints and patterns to choose from, but our favourite is the yellow and pink floral print which has a bit of a 70s feel to it. It has a more relaxed fit, with loose shorts and a button up front, but its natural fabric does mean it’s pricier at £149.
For something more elegant, the 100% cotton Estelle Cotton Safari-Print Playsuit from Reiss is ideal, featuring a muted, safari-inspired print, a halter neckline and loose, flowing shorts. This is another splurge, however, with a price tag of £198.
If a bargain is what you’re after, New Look’s summer sale has seen the Green Palm Tree Print Short Playsuit slashed from £23.99 to just £11. Despite its bargain price, it’s still available in sizes eight to 20, and comes in a light green colourway with contrasting dark green palm print, with a fitted bodice, puff sleeves and flippy shorts for a smart-but-casual feel.
