UK supermarket giant Morrisons is offering a 10% discount every Friday until April 24 on shopping of £40 or more — as long as one straightforward eligibility criterion is met.
Shoppers visiting Morrisons between now and April 24 can claim 10% off their weekly shopping every Friday when spending £40 or more – and all you need to do is satisfy one straightforward eligibility requirement.
Thanks to the UK supermarket giant’s latest tie-up with Blue Light Card, customers can secure substantial reductions on the weekly promotion.
The deal runs every Friday until April 24 and all Blue Light Card members need to do – meaning those employed by or retired from the emergency services, NHS, social care sector, teaching community or armed forces – is activate the discount code via their Blue Light Card app.
The money-saving initiative comes at a time when the cost of everyday groceries and shopping continues to surge amid the UK’s ongoing cost of living crisis, reports the Express.
Recent analysis from Which? shows the cost of a typical weekly shop at Morrisons amounts to roughly £187.65.
Blue Light cardholders with access to this exclusive promotion can pocket approximately £18.77 in a single visit – which could total a considerable £131.39 by the time the deal concludes.
Joe Mathison, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Blue Light Card said: “Families across the country are feeling the impact of price hikes, with grocery costs at an all time high.
“We want to do everything we can to thank the everyday heroes that make up the Blue Light community, so we’re pleased to partner with Morrisons once again to offer key workers extra support this February.
“Savings like this can genuinely make a difference to those on the front line – and it couldn’t be easier to access.”
Morrisons ranks as the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket chain and was established in 1899 by William Morrison. Starting from modest origins, Morrisons began life as an egg and butter stall at Bradford’s Rawson Market.
Until 2004, the retailer’s outlets were predominantly concentrated in the North of England, but the acquisition of Safeway that year resulted in substantial expansion across Wales, Scotland and the South of England.
Morrisons has previously partnered with Blue Light Card to offer comparable discounts, and customers can also check the Blue Light Card website to find out more about deals currently on offer.
Morrisons also rewarding select drivers with extra More points
Additional changes are currently taking place at Morrisons. The supermarket chain recently announced a major development across its car parks to benefit particular drivers.
The British retailer has joined forces with Motor Fuel Group (MFG) to incentivise electric vehicle owners, giving them bonus Morrisons More points when they charge their EVs at one of its car parks.
This fresh scheme was introduced over the past weekend, with EV owners receiving 5 More Points for every £1 spent, which can be used at any Morrisons supermarket.
Overall, Morrisons runs 497 supermarkets and more than 1,700 Morrisons Daily convenience and franchise outlets. MFG has announced it will also be investing £105 million in upgrading Morrisons’ forecourts as part of the partnership.
MFG plans to install an additional 250 ultra-rapid charging bays across Morrisons forecourts this year, it has confirmed.
Matt McLellan, Group Customer, Marketing and Data Director at Morrisons, said: “We are always looking for new ways to give our customers more value through the Morrisons More programme, and this partnership with MFG does exactly that.
“Rewarding customers with 5 Morrisons More Points for every £1 spent charging at all MFG EV Power bays across the UK means they can earn valuable points on the road and enjoy savings when they shop with us in store.
“As more drivers make the switch to electric vehicles, it’s important that we continue to evolve our loyalty offering to reflect how our customers live their lives.
“By linking EV charging with Morrisons More Points, we’re making it even easier for customers to benefit from choosing Morrisons – whether they’re filling their fridge or powering their car.”
