Meghan Markle shares glimpse of day in the life with Harry and Lilibet

Meghan Markle has shared a rare glimpse of her home life featuring daughter Princess Lilibet and husband Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex posted a string of Instagram stories showing how she and her family are preparing for spring, with one clip showing Lilibet’s flowing red hair.

In one clip, which appears to have been filmed by Harry, Meghan can be seen arranging flowers in vase, which the prince heard to remark: “It’s beautiful. So brilliant, babe.” Another story shows her trimming wisteria and then feeding the family’s chickens, while four-year-old Lilibet roams in the background trying to stroke them.

In the final clip, Meghan can be seen flicking through the pages of the book They Bloom Because of You by Jessica Urlichs, which is a collection of poetry.

The author then took to her own Instagram page to share her shock at Meghan featuring her book in the stories, saying she was honoured. And Meghan replied in the comments saying: “My mom friend, Christina, shared it with me and I’m sharing it with every mom I know. My bedside book. From one mama to another – thank you x.”

Meghan’s seemingly relaxed posts on Instagram come just days after the Sussexes issued a furious statement in response to a new royal book.

The pair criticised Tom Bower for his ‘fixation’ on them after his new book was serialised, which claimed Queen Camilla once told a friend the Duchess of Sussex had “brainwashed” Harry.

In the first extracts of Tom Bower’s forthcoming book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit And The Fight For The Future Of The Royal Family, it is claimed the Prince and Princess of Wales also considered Meghan “a threat” as tensions escalated prior to the Sussexes’ decision to quit Britain for the United States.

But in a statement issued on Saturday, a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan hit back. “Mr Bower’s commentary has long crossed the line from criticism into fixation,” they said.

“This is someone who has publicly stated, ‘the monarchy in fact depends on actually obliterating the Sussexes from our state of life,’ language that speaks for itself.

“He has made a career out of constructing ever more elaborate theories about people he does not know and has never met. Those interested in facts will look elsewhere; those seeking deranged conspiracy and melodrama know exactly where to find him.”

Meanwhile, the couple also released another statement via their spokesperson on social media protections for children. The LA trial over whether social media companies should be liable for harms caused to children using their platforms is a “turning point”, and the “ world is finally paying attention”, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said.

It comes after Harry and Meghan called for stronger protections for children online last year after unveiling a memorial in New York City to young people who lost their lives due to the harmful effects of social media.

And the Sussexes’ Archewell Foundation previously unveiled its Parents’ Network initiative as a support system for parents of children affected by online harm.

Now closing arguments have been heard at the Spring Street Courthouse in Los Angeles after about a month of hearing from therapists, addiction experts, platform engineers and executives, including Mark Zuckerberg in the trial.

The plaintiff is a 20-year-old woman, and the two defendants are Meta and Google-owned YouTube. Snap and TikTok were also named defendants in the lawsuit, but each settled before the trial started.

The Sussexes’ spokesperson added: “This trial is already a turning point: it has forced some of the most powerful companies on earth to reveal what’s behind the curtain and to answer, in public and on the record, for choices that shaped an entire generation’s daily life.”
