McDonald’s has varied opening times, depending on your locations – this is because around 80% of its restaurants are franchised, which means they can set their own hours
If you’re already planning a Big Mac meal to help your New Year hangover, then you may be wondering when your local McDonald’s is open over the next few days.
The fast food chain has varied opening times, depending on your locations – this is because around 80% of McDonald’s branches are franchised, which means they can set their own hours. McDonald’s has more than 1,400 branches.
There is one bank holiday next week for New Year’s Day, which falls on Wednesday, so opening times may be slightly different to normal. We’ve checked several locations, so you have a good idea what to expect – but you can also enter your postcode into the McDonald’s restaurant locator online tool to check the opening times of your nearest branch.
For example, the McDonald’s in Commercial Road in Portsmouth is normally from 6am until 11pm most days, but it will open 6am until 10pm on New Year’s Eve, and then 8am until 11pm on New Year’s Day. McDonald’s in Oxford Road in Manchester is normally a 24-hour restaurant, but its hours will change to 7am until 10pm on New Year’s Eve and 8am until 11pm on New Year’s Day.
The McDonald’s on Chester motorway service station on the M56 is open 24 hours as normal on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, while the McDonald’s in Princes Street in Edinburgh is open from 5am until 3am on New Year’s Eve, but then it will reopen slightly later at 8am on New Year’s Day.
It comes as McDonald’s has just announced its January menu – with three new items arriving from January 8 for a six-week period. First up, there is the new Chicken Katsy One wrap which consists of either a crispy or grilled chicken, covered in katsu sauce, alongside crispy onions, cucumber, and fresh lettuce, wrapped in a toasted tortilla.
Alongside this, Maccies is also launching its new BBQ Ranch Stack, which features two 100% beef patties topped with Emmental cheese, lettuce, bacon, crispy onions, creamy ranch, and a sweet BBQ sauce, all in a glazed sesame seed bun. The final new item is its Milky Way McFlurry, which sees soft dairy ice cream swirled with milk chocolate stars and malt-flavoured pieces topped with a chocolate sauce.
Returning to the McDonald’s menu is the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse, which is a 100% crispy chicken breast fillet coated with a smoky BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, red onion, and lettuce in a sourdough-style sesame-topped bun. McDonald’s says this menu item – beloved by fans when it was first introduced in October 2023 – will be around until May 6.
Mozerella Dippers will also be making a return. These are sticks of Mozzarella cheese coated in breadcrumbs and served with salsa dip, and you can get them in either a three-piece or nine-piece share box. These will also be sticking around for a little while until March 25, 2025.
