Fans have rushed to share their divided opinions on the brand new McDonald’s summer menu items – including a new burger, McFlurry, chicken share boxes, and food items which had disappeared from the menu
McDonald’s enthusiasts, get ready for a treat as the beloved fast food giant is introducing three exciting new items to its menu, alongside the return of some old favourites.
As temperatures rise, many are venturing outdoors with their meals and treats. McDonald’s has long been a go-to for a cooling McFlurry during the warmer months, and this year, they’re spicing things up with a brand new Skittles flavour starting next week. This addition, along with other new items, has sparked quite the conversation among the McDonald’s faithful.
From Wednesday, May 29, customers can also sink their teeth into the new Hat Trick Burger. This hefty offering features three beef patties, two slices of cheese, grilled onions, ketchup and mustard – all encased in a sesame seed bun. The burger’s launch coincides with a sports-packed summer, including the Olympics kicking off in July. Priced at £5.89 for a regular meal and £7.69 for a medium, it’s a must-try for burger enthusiasts.
A McDonald’s spokesperson excitedly shared: “For fans craving that big win this Summer, McDonald’s UK & Ireland has unveiled an exciting new menu, packed full of crowd-pleasers.”
In addition, McDonald’s is also introducing new savoury snacks perfect for sharing. The Chicken Sharebox includes six Chicken Selects, 12 chicken McNuggets, and four diverse dips, all for £10.59. For those who can’t get enough of Chicken Selects, there’s now a nine-piece share box available for £8.49.
According to a McDonald’s spokesperson, there’s an updated trio of dips hitting the menu “to pair perfectly with chicken”, which includes garlic mayonnaise, sweet and smoky BBQ, and sweet chilli. For cheese enthusiasts, the beloved mozzarella bites are returning, served with a robust tomato dip for £2.39.
Additionally, a new Skittles McFlurry is making its appearance at McDonald’s across the UK. This sweet treat combines soft dairy ice cream swirled with chewy Skittles fudge pieces and sugary pearls, all topped off with a purple Skittles-flavoured sauce. Along with this addition, a hot dessert debuts, as well as the return of a chocolate favourite.
Making a sweet first impression is the Galaxy Chocolate and Raspberry Pie, set at a price of £1.99. This combination of smooth chocolate and sweet fruit in the form of a crispy chocolate pastry filled with smooth chocolate ganache and a delightful raspberry compote has been hailed delicious. Also making a comeback (£2.19) will be the Galaxy Caramel McFlurry, to the joy of Galaxy fans.
And timely for the warmer weather, the fast-food brand’s Ice Latte is returning too, at £2.49. After New Foods UK – a social media page known for sharing the latest food launches – posted about these new and returning products, fans quickly commented.
Although many are eager to trial the new menu items, some didn’t seem quite as thrilled. Oone person exclaimed: “The pie and McFlurry look good.” Another chimed in with relief, saying: “Iced latte thank the lord.”
Enthusiasm continued to build as someone else commented: “Omg chocolate and raspberry pie, we need to try,” tagging a friend to share the discovery. “I’m all over that,” another user declared. However, not everyone was impressed, as one critic noted: “So confused about the McFlurry.”
The sentiment was echoed by others, with one stating, “A Skittles McFlurry is tragic,” and another adding, “The pie and McFlurry sound awful,” Meanwhile, a skeptical Instagram user asked, “Isn’t the burger just a triple quarter pounder? ,”.
One other wrote: “Curious about the Skittles McFlurry – wouldn’t they freeze hard like fruity bullets on your teeth. The Galaxy Raspberry Pie sounds good though.”
