Matalan is closing its Colne, Lancashire store on March 7, launching a massive 50% off sale across products.
The North Valley Retail Park branch will shut permanently next week, with shoppers warned they can no longer visit after the closure date. The fashion and homeware retailer has also announced the closure of its Carlisle megastore on the same date.
A spokesperson for Matalan said: “Our priority now is to support our colleagues. We have thoroughly enjoyed serving customers at the retail park and hope they will continue to shop with us at our nearby Accrington or Blackburn stores.”
The Carlisle closure is part of a major redevelopment project to transform the retail park into a new southern entrance for Carlisle station. Meanwhile, staff at the Leeds Matalan store were redeployed after it closed permanently on February 24.
Despite the closures, Matalan is planning significant investment with 40 store refurbishments planned for 2026. The retailer completed 30 refurbishments last year as part of a £25million investment, with upgraded sites outperforming the wider network by 14% in sales.
The company operates over 200 stores across the UK after 40 years in business.
