It is reopening for the summer season this Bank Holiday weekend – and it’s got a brand new 39ft X Tower mega slide for thrill-seekers
A major UK water park is set to reopen just in time for the Bank Holiday weekend – and adventure seekers have an enormous new attraction awaiting them. The renowned Aqualand inflatable water park returns for the summer season, unveiling a brand-new mega slide designed for adrenaline enthusiasts.
Reaching an impressive 12m (39ft) in height, the new “X Tower” offers high-speed descents, racing lanes and a pulse-racing experience not suited to the faint of heart. While the main park reopens this week, visitors will need to wait slightly longer before attempting the imposing new feature.
Aqualand, located at Cliff Lakes in Tamworth, near Birmingham, will reopen on Saturday (2 May), with the X Tower scheduled to launch on Saturday (23 May), perfectly timed for the second Bank Holiday weekend and school half-term. The X Tower boasts six slides, incorporating dual racing lanes and precipitous drop sections engineered for extra thrills.
The new attraction forms part of a broader expansion at the venue, with another feature – the “Wibit Wave” – also debuting this summer. The wave-style slide extends 15 metres and stands five metres high, providing a more lighthearted yet still dynamic ride.
The water park already hosts eight inflatable obstacle courses that visitors can navigate during 80-minute sessions. Participants must be aged six or above and at least 1.10 metres tall to join in, while younger children require adult supervision. Visitors must also be confident swimmers and capable of completing 25 metres unaided before taking to the water.
The entry price covers a wetsuit and buoyancy aid, with all guests obliged to wear the appropriate safety gear throughout their session, bosses say. Anyone keen to take on the X Tower will need to pay an extra £5 on top of the standard admission price.
